Heavy Hearted

The weight on my chest makes it hard to breathe.

Suffocation is not the issue, so, please

try to set my mind at ease

and remember my heart isn't for lease.

It's such a simple task,

making my self-esteem disappear

What's wrong, you ask?

I'm shrinking under your jeers.

As you continue to bask

In the pleasure of your beers,

I am reduced to a mess of tears.

Be disappointed, be mad;

But don't act like you didn't have

Anything to do with why I lack

A smile. Knives pointed at my back

all the while. I can't let the Armor crack.

Beguiled with the thoughts of a vast black

Unintentional as it may be,

You make me feel less than weak.

As I try to turn my cheek

I’m met with condescension.

Beyond your intention

is what? I can’t tell

is it malicious or can’t you smell?

The bullshit you put me though, all of the hell

Sulfur burns my nose, the thoughts I cannot quell

I guess I’ll put my feelings to bed; Oh Well.
