Heirloom

Passed down from generation to generation, child to grandchild kept cherished and safe till the day its either sold during hard financial times or until there is no-one left for it to be passed on to, so it stays in the attic basement or storage room until someone new comes along and takes it in like a stray left to weather the wind and rain a continues the tradition of passing it on and through all this it gathers stories of its journeys whether it be in the form of dents or scratches each tells the tale of its lifetime being passed on, the places its seen the owners it's had until the day its lost and forgotten or given to someone who has no interest in such things and throws it carelessly away carelessly to be carried away and taken to the place where all outdated, forgotten and broken things are sent to, stuck there as they slowly wither away having been completely forgotten.
