Helen Keller

A: Helen Keller was a smart little girl,

B: read-n’ on her papa’s knee.

C: Everyone said,”What a bright little child,

B: until that fever came you see.

A: Now the plague had come and gone,

B: and Helen Keller had almost died,

C: the doctor said she would be blind and deaf,

B: so Helen’s mom just sat and cried.

A: Miss Annie Sullivan was asked to help,

B: but Helen would not let her try.

C: Annie’s technique was to trace on Helen’s hand,

B: Helen would not let her try and Annie could not ask her why.

A: Annie and Helen soon became friends.

B: On April 5, 1887 Helen learns the meaning of water,

C: Helen’s story doesn’t end here it actually begins,

B: and Helen ran and “told” her father.

A: Helen’s parents were very happy,

B: They asked Annie if she would stay.

C: Annie had completed her mission,

D: But Annie had to be on her way.
