To Hell and Back

I didn't say that! I wasn't there! Oh no not again Let go of my hair Please don't shout Don't cause a scene Just leave me alone Don't be so mean He lunges forward His hands grip my neck Everything goes black As I hit the deck How long has passed? My children are crying I'm on the floor Am I dying? It's hard to breathe My neck is bruised It hurts so much To be abused Is he there? Has he gone? Are we safe? It goes on and on! My biggest fear For my children and I I'll go out in a bag I don't want to die! He says he loves me What would he know? I'm just his toy We have to go! The last time we left, he cried Don't leave, please don't go Then he shouted abuse I'll kill you, you know I tried so hard For all those years Too much heartache Too many tears For twelve long years The torment, the pain At times I thought I would go insane To pick up the pieces To start anew The hardest thing To have to do We're doing OK My children at my side Peace at last We don't have to hide We're Free!!
