Hell In Paradise
You can't always run from your problems, if you take them with you
They will rear their ugly head, when you least expected, no matter what you do
I came down here for a fresh start but the same problems resurfaced again
When will it be my time to shine, Oh God, I am asking you when?
Hell In Paradise, it's gorgeous and warm outside
Hell In Paradise, but it's raining cats and dogs inside
Hell In Paradise, outside, it's mostly sunny weather
Hell In Paradise, but life is still raining on my parade, now and forever
I came down here with all guns blazing but the doors weren't opening for me
Now it seems as time goes by the windows of opportunity are now closing
Then disaster struck and then I got stuck doing damage control
Life gets harder and harder when you and your family start getting old
Hell In Paradise, trying to hold things together as they are falling apart
Hell In Paradise, this has certainly put a damper on this fresh new start
Hell In Paradise, a repreive from this hell, couldn't come faster
Hell In Paradise, it seems that I am constantly flirting with disaster
Maybe I just waited too long to make this move and I just missed the boat
Now this boat is starting to sink and I just can't seem to keep it afloat
I just hope I get the chance to somehow make things right again
I just want a better life and I want all of this hell I am going through to come to an end
Hell In Paradise, when I solve one problem, another one comes along
Hell In Paradise, but I wish this narrative would change it's station with a new song
Hell In Paradise, but maybe I have come to a place where I just don't belong
Hell In Paradise, making this move seemed right but maybe it was all wrong

Your Poem's Voice
Personal struggle in new location; some universal messaging but grounded in autobiography.
Multiple interconnected ideas: relocation, family aging, missed opportunities, recurring failure.
Deeply pessimistic tone; despair, regret, sense of failure throughout.
Urgent, restless pacing; active verbs (blazing, falling, sinking) but meditative moments.
Approximately 32 lines; falls in 31-60 range.
Rich metaphors (paradise/hell, doors/windows, boats sinking, parade), some alliteration.
Pure lyric internal voice; direct first-person emotional confession, no narrative distance.
