Hello World, Hello Boy

i have never called a man beautiful.

stubble across cheeks

and carefully sculpted adam's apples

have never caught my eye.

the glimpse of chest hair

from a v-neck sweater,

the bushy eyebrows moving

in tandem with bright eyes

never made me blush.

the large, knobby hands

calloused fingers, jaunty thumbs

never sent a shiver up my spine.

yet, when i gaze at him

in the early morning light

thin curtains letting

his skin be haloed

in growing orange bright

his eyelids closed,

his smile slight,

all i can think is

how beautiful.
