The Helpful Fire

Easy as a flick of a finger, the fire the helps bring me warmth.

Seen as deadly in the wrong hands, but also used for protection at times.

The lighter which helps me survive by keeping the creatures of the night away.

At times in the middle of the night, when I find myself at a fright,

I look to the light which keeps telling me to fight.

When push comes shove and the night attacks,

a simple light can keep all those away for the night.

When the time comes for that last fight for life,

a simple fire can save my life,

The lighter which is so small,

can lead me to my chance at life.
