HELPING YOUR FELLOW MAN
Working with senior citizens who face much harder times than I know, encouraged me to plan early and grow, find what I wanted to do and the kind of volunteer I am will make me a better young man. This has lead to the insight of who I am as a person, and an even better understanding of improving the quality of life for others, and myself makes life right. No matter what my future goals are I am determined to do all it takes to succeed by helping other souls. Volunteering teaches self-worth which should be instilled since birth. Everyone benefits from the process; those I can help live more comfortably in their homes as well as gaining advice from those more worldly and wiser when this world is a mess. This is ongoing project is one I look forward to each year as it helps bring a me focus to a pathways to future academic successes to those from those so near. One of the individuals I helped shared that the most important thing in life are not just “learning material” in the classroom could be just from using a broom. Knowing that a mind is a “terrible thing to waste” can be your gift to make a mark on the world each and every day. Volunteering has allowed me use this passion to discover my own destiny regardless of what others think of me.
Life 30 years from now will be full of personal growth received from a career that is engaging and marked with lessons learned from helping everyone. One aspect that I always hope to embrace and hold as a success is continuing to provide support, through volunteerism, with the same eagerness and engagement I hold today. Skills and life lessons acquired working with seniors and other vulnerable populations teaches me to listen better and to make this a memorable part of my life’s contributions, to society and personal wills. When I think of my experience as a foster child and not having a chance to reunite with my biological family, these are key motivators that make me feel good about volunteering and doing his will.
