Helpless

I am lonely

In a nation full of people who hear me but don't listen to a thing I say

I am insecure

In a nation where my image and appearance mean more than it should

I am stressed

In a nation where lettered grades are more important than what I actually know

I am starving

In nation where only thin is acceptable and everything else is secretly shunned

I am ashamed

In a nation where white skin is the best you could have, but I will never achieve it

I am grateful

In a nation where light skin is better than dark skin which I was lucky enough to obtain

I am hurt

In a nation with seemingly little acceptance of others different from one's self

I am disgusted

In a nation where girls have to work for privileges that boys are handed

I am angry

In a nation where boys are looked down upon for being human and showing emotions

I am sad

In a nation where so many of my friends want to die because a teenagers' problems are 'petty'

I am scared

In a nation where I could be killed for walking down the street due to my identity

I am confused

In a nation that lacks love and compassion

But most of all

I feel helpless

In a nation where the little things I due seem to have no impact
