Like Her

Sitting across from her at the table watching her mannerisms. Oh, how far she has come yet how removed I become around her thinking back to when she was the monster. Two different people- from then and to now- but can monsters really be trusted? They called her crazy. They locked her up. I can here myself screaming, “I’ll never be like her!” The illness, the depression, the insanity, the addiction haunting me, wanting to swallow me and then I start screaming, “I’ll never be like her!” I see her smiling now I just drift back to when I was seven and she was high up near heaven. When she came back down I locked my door shut. Two different people from then and to now but can monsters be trusted? They say she is “cured” she is not the same and then I will cry, “I’ll never be like her...”
