Her

The one thing I need

is not an object.

I need no book to read

or journal to reflect

or game

to keep my mind busy.

I need her.

The reason for my being

A quintessential example

of why life is worth living

A bright light of companionship

and love

On that dark lonely island.

I need her,

Because I can read her all day

record my thoughts with her

and those thoughts would hardly stray

from her beautiful face

and her calming smile,

and even if we didn't last long

it would well be worth the while

because all I need

is her.
