Her

It hurts more each day

To see her brush the pain away

As if expecting no other outcome.

You despise the darkness seeping into her eyes

Wanting, no, needing it to recede.

Each failed “love” slowly destroys her

Even if she smiles it away.

You want a prince charming

Not for you but for her,

To save her dimming fire

From being extinguished forever.

You want to cry

To scream

To punch

Anything to save her

From the clutches of depression

But deep down you know

That it is not your fight
