Her Any Other Way

She's a jaded gem

With sad eyes

She's jagged at the edges

And she lies

Angels face

Gold hair

He soaks her up

Breathes in her air

Sugar sweet

But sour underneath

The pretty

She's running from something

Her worst fear

Is herself

And he wouldn't have her

Any other way

She's soft spoken

Doesn't say much

And she heals

With just one touch

She's too much

But somehow

Still never enough

She laughs

At her own jokes

And when she gets angry

It's like a hurricane

But still

It doesn't seem to matter

Or make a difference

She's rotten

To the core

And yet

He wants more

Just when he leaves

And he wouldn't have her

Any other way

She's got a mean streak

Buried deep

Under the pretty

She's wicked

And swears

Like a sailor

She's a spitfire

And cries herself to sleep

Some nights

And he doesn't know why

After all these years

He doesn't know why

She cries

Or why

She's still a mystery to him

A maze

He can't get out of

A book

He'll never finish

But still

He wouldn't have her

Any other way

She's green

When she's mean

But when she smiles

It's like the sun

Is melting down on him

She sends him

To his knees

With just one kiss

One touch

Pure bliss

She's a straight shot

Of whiskey

Drunk on her

Then and now

What a beautiful disaster

And somehow

He still

Wouldn't have her

Any other way
