In Her Eyes
In her eyes,
I see what it is to give your all, and barely get half back.
In her eyes I see,
Someone moving on from who she was but looking back.
So it's not who she'll become again.
In her eyes.
I see life.
A new life with new rules.
And this time.
She makes them.
Cut her some slack,
Because in her eyes,
She sees improvement
Better choices have been made,
But worse ones have too.
Because in her eyes.
I see someone still trying to learn
what to do.
Nothing new.
We all do too.
Back then.
In her eyes,
You couldn't see what was hidden.
Behind those blue waters
Sinking deeper and deeper with every wave.
But now,
In her eyes.
I see what hurt and what healed.
And what's still taking time to heal.
In Your Eyes.
I see growth.
I see new life.
I see happiness.
A smile.
No longer covered in waves of sorrow.
But here, on dry land.
In your eyes.
Where I constantly wonder,
No map in hand.
I see.
Who you'll become.
Someone who doesn't lead
With their eyes.
But with their heart.
