On Her Lonesome

Day after day,

Dusk after dawn

Princes climbed

In hopes of capturing a heart.

No ordinary chamber

For they could only shame her

If they attempted woo.

Brick by brick,

The wall grew thick

And she only grew colder.

“The princess does not want to be saved,” they said.

For they assumed

She was dead.

The future queen

Couldn’t but scream,

So she locked it all away.

Tiny little box,

Where she kept all her thoughts,

Would one day become full.

Until that day

She’ll remain locked away

And alas she wept.
