Her Moment

It was the moment that changed everything for her.

The moment she realized she didn’t need to validate herself to anyone

 was absolutely life changing.

She didn’t owe anything to anyone-- except herself.

She owed it to herself to do something for her sake

instead of someone else’s.

She realized she shouldn’t feel guilty for doing something

just because it’s an inconvenience to others.

She realized that in playing by the rules of everyone else

she was playing a game she didn’t even like anymore.

She was content because everyone else was happy;

but she wasn’t happy for herself.

She wasn’t at peace with her situation

but she ignored it in order to keep peace with others.

She was selfless and apologetic during this time.

It wasn’t until she changed

that she became powerful.

The moment she realized it is more important

to make the right decision than to feel like everything is alright

was the moment that she grew.

She decided she could overcome

the fear of disappointing others

since the only approval that truly matters

is her own.

The moment she had the courage to say, “This isn’t what I want anymore,”

was the moment she got what she wanted.
