Her Ordeal

As the sun goes down

she sits quietly on a couch by the veranda

many confusing thoughts cloud her mind

she has a black eye from last night's showdown

tick tock the clock is ticking for another round

another round of pain and strain

she fearfully stares at the gate

tearfully gazes in vain

for any signs of 'that man'

for a moment her friend's advice crosses her mind

'run away as far from'that man' as you can

but another thought tells her otherwise

'stay and be strong' it says

as the darkness accumulates

she notices that monstrous dark figure approach the gate

she breathes heavily....shaking

as he draws near, she stands up

she whispers to herself....,''whatever!'
