Here...
Here I lie alone in this dark room
My pounding heartbeat echoes throughout, the only noise I’ve heard in hours
The navy sky casts a pale light onto my shaking hands
My head filled with uneasy thoughts I wrap myself tighter in my blanket
With quivering lips I shut my eyes tight
Wet tears drip out of the corners of my eyes
Nails dug into my palms I hope for the thoughts to pass
A burst of light, someone has opened the door
They reach out a hand to pull me from the all consuming darkness
We get closer to the light and when I almost feel safe they let go
And then I’m dropped back into the spiral of despair
Alone and fighting to live another day
