Here Today, Gone Tomorrow

We're here today and gone tomorrow.

Here now, gone in the next moment.

Our lives are never consistent --

Never, ever consistent.

Always running, always going --

"Gotta go! We're gonna be late!" then 8 hours later

"Alright! Time for school! Get up!"

We live in such a busy world --

The hustle and bustle of traffic on interstate highways,

The hustle and bustle of traffic on a simple two-lane road.

We can never slow down in life. And everyone has their own agenda:

The female driver behind me rushing to get her kids to school so

She can get to work;

The middle-aged man briskly walking to lose a few pounds;

The occasional crazy drivers cutting everyone off to get to a location

That will only bring them temporary satisfaction;

The students absorbed in their phones as they cross the street;

In other areas, the shoppers who take forever to purchase their last-minute gifts;

And, of course, the teachers who pour time into their students' education.

We all have our own agendas,

And I think that it gets to our head at times.

We can't slow down, so we keep going --

Faster, faster, faster, "OUT OF MY WAY!",

Until we crash and burn.

Life rushes us, and to keep up with it, we rush ourselves-

in every action, every word, every moment in time.
