Here's Me Trying To Be Serious...

For the first time in quite a long time, I have opened a new

Word document.  The infinite new possibilities

Beginning with that blinking black cursor.

What shall it be today?

A romantic meeting?

A conspiracy?

No, none of these will cure my teenage angst, which I apparently didn’t get a shot for as a child

Maybe a poem about the changing leaves.

Well that’s a bit cliché

Plus, I see no changing leaves; there are only solid green pines

As far as I can see. But they are out there, those leaves.

Shedding their gaudy emerald for a more sophisticated ruby.

Maybe I’ll try to do that too, I could shed my glamorous

Existence as a story writer for the quiet, more subtle

Life as a poet.  That would be nice.
