"Why aren't you making straight A's?"

"Why aren't you in advanced classes?"

 

 

This may be expected,

but it does not mean

that is who I am.

 

My intelligence has nothing to do with my ethnicity.

My eyes are not slanted.

Failing something makes me feel bad.

That is not my parents decision.

 

I want to know of my culture.

Who I came from.

 

  "And Buddha's made of stone watch over me.

                           My dreams they lead me through the fields of rice.
                                    In prayer, in the light...I see my kin.

                                  I touch my tree, my roots, my begin..."
