Heritage Over Headache

if you are so inclined— I’m in the green :)

to be asked what I find “awesome”

no doubt seems frivolous to me

with a life so full of burdens and stress

in which a stable career is still no guarantee.

get into a good college.

get into a top medical school.

get a high paying job— oh

and keep your sanity intact the whole time.

thinking about it all tenses me so much… I might have forgotten to rhyme.

instead of rhyme, or study, or test, there’s something else I’d like to do

it liberates every square inch of my mind, it lets all my pain seep through.

bhangra, bhangra, bhangra! that’s awesome. because of dance I’m never in gloom.

from my teammates— family, I call them

to the sound of the drum filling the room.

this style of dance is so awesome, so superior, that I pity who doesn’t understand

that life without the dynamic moves uplifting the soul… makes life without dance seem bland.
