her/me

You are
The reverberation of my heart
Coursing through my bones
Taking my breath from my lungs

I wish I never met you

That day is
Etched into my skin
Carved into my bones
The thread that sutured my bleeding heart

Why are you still here?

I am
The tear stains in my pillow
The sleeping pills in my medicine cabinet
The visits to my therapist's office

You have a new one, now

She is
A beautiful ray of sunshine
Yellow, and full of life
Uninhibited and passionate

I pray for her.
