Hero

The little girl runs to Him She flings her small body into his massive arms Joyfully she tells Him she loves Him, How could she not? He is her sun, He brings warmth to her heart He shines lights unto her fears, And becomes her hero. Strong. Untouchable. Incorruptible. But then the little girl grows, She discovers her hero’s fatal flaw. The once soaring sun begins to fall, There is no place for him within the stars his light has dimmed, now shrouded in darkness, he drowns. Alone, he claws for hope that escapes him, She watches this unrecognizable man, Distant from the god she once worshiped. Fragile. Hopeless. Unlovable. But at times she remembers her love for him, A lost hero, And begins to drown with him.
