Hero
Alone.
Broken heart.
Bleeding soul.
Night falls,
And the shadows over take me.
Tears flow,
And I have no clue as of where to go.
My hopes dampen,
My spirits sink.
How silly I was!
How silly I was to imagine such fantasies,
And to dream such crazy dreams.
I look around.
I could have sworn I was alone,
But something in the shadows moves.
Fear sweeps over my heart.
Haven’t I suffered enough?
Why must something more come to haunt me?
But a figure, cloaked in light steps out.
They walk towards me,
Holding a key.
It is placed in my hand,
And a tingling sensation fills me.
I turn around, and I see a door.
It glows, but my hero still shines brighter.
I slip the key in the lock,
And it fits perfectly.
The silent hero takes my hand,
And together we walk through.
The other side is peaceful and warm.
A flood of relief washes over me.
I turn to see who saved me.
Perhaps a knight,
Or maybe an angel.
But when they remove their hood,
I see a face that I know so well.
It is a face with more nobility than a knight,
And a face more beautiful than an angel.
It is the face of my mother.
