Heroes

True heroes are never dressed in gold. Their silks are thrown aside, their castles---non-existent, And their wounds much deeper. True heroes' uniforms are blood. They drip not with badges, But with sweat and fear And their guns loaded with the freedom and pride of their nation. But the truest of the true The ones who should be dressed in gold, Are the ones that are 6 feet down. The true heroes are the ones--- Who never make it home.
