Hero's Break

I would embrace the world.

I would take its troubles to my breast, and soothe all weary hearts.

I would take up like a child all who try to stand, and fall.

I would make all Hell to tremble for the hurt that it has caused.

I would fight a world of pain, even take it one myself.

I'd be all orphan's hero, protector, and their friend.

I would end all wand'rer's solitude, walk with them to the end.

But broken hearts more hearts do break, and mine has felt the lack.

The embrace that would but heal the world by the world rejected.

My messianic mission now, like Christ's before,

Thrown under stone in sadness.
