Herstory
My name is Tiara
Developed from the roots of royalty
So forgive me
If I don’t allow you to treat me other than
Because my name is Tiara
A strong, young, black woman
Proud to have black girl features
Curly hair
Big Lips
And Wide Hips
Women are the most underrepresented people in America
The women who can carry a child for 9 months
The smart women
The compassionate women
The fierce women
Women should be honored
For doing what they must to make ends meet
Our men & women
Our sons & daughters
Our mothers & fathers
Our legacy
Must be protected
I will not let my history define me
I will not let my familys sacrifice go unnoticed
I will not let others insult my intelligence
I’m going to make a change in the world
And show my friends and family that anything is possible
When I turn on the news
I’m going to hear about whats right in the community
Not another homicide
I will live my life with no worries
Being black in America has done nothing but educate me
I hope that one day
We can learn to love
Without fear
But with pure intentions
On seeing each other prosper
I am Tiara
A shooting star
