hey you bird

hey I have the strangest urge
to reach out and curl my fingers
around your soft feathered body.
isn't that funny little bird?
and hey have I seen you before?
I can't tell if you're her or him
or in between
or upside down
or inside out.
I can tell you one thing though
is that I'm jealous
and you're unaware
of the freedom that comes
with a waddle and a beak
even on the cold damp streets
unwilling to really fly
you're freer than me
in your ugly little way
and your perfect little life.
