The Hidden Child

A story as typical as the last

Hatred infused with the past

The fear of losing a child so intense

A child has lost all sense

Of freedom

Desperate for attention, recognition, help

He turned to the internet, a strange device

To speak without his mother’s prying eye.

A girl determined to escape

The date of her father’s doing

She reaches to the internet, in all of its glory

Who happens to speak to a boy so lonely.

They converse, so lonely in their own way,

The boy’s beautiful mother jealous of attention taken

The girl’s sisters allowing a jealous rage

Who are you

A single text

You can’t know

His reply

He cheats and lies

The sisters cry

So they track the lonely boy’s phone,

Finding the principal’s son

His heart clenching in despair and betrayal.

No longer allowed to see his love

He despairs, breaking his mother’s heart

She chastises the girl, but upon hearing her cries of remorse,

She forgives,

And the girl is reunited with the lonely boy

His heart now full

Forgiveness for all who falter was shown

Thus is the story of Psyche and her Eros
