Hidden Secret

She likes to laugh and then she likes to learn

tho' her loving heart doth willfully yearn.

At certain times during hard days like these

she patiently tries so hard to appease

her caring parents lay down a strict rule

she tends to struggle when dealing with school.

The stress is building, for it's faced each day

as time quickly, silently slips away.

The many oppressive worries of life

for they consistently cause such great strife

deeper, deeper struggling not to fall

for lots of teenage drama she does haul.

Sleep will not come, she lays awake

the comfort of sweet dreams she cannot fake.

The day was busy her body tired

she needed sleep yet her brain was wired.

She worked much to hard and studied till late

the morning sun shines brightly, she's irrate.

She so desperately feels the lack of sleep,

and quite frankly she just wishes to weep.

Her hands tremble, she's on the verge of tears

the day anew, is time for greater fears.

Not enough hours she only has few

for every assignment soon to be due.

One must be enduring and cant lose hope

in this life she will be able to cope.

A smile she does bear with curly blonde hair

her thoughts are secret and she cannot share.

In every a class sitting calm and shy

her pale freckled face hides the shielded lie.

To look at her face who would ever guess

she is weighed down and tired from such stress.

Lovely piece :) You do not have to sacrifice syllables for the sake of meter, but read writers who write (contemporary) verses in these forms and learn from them. Meter should be a challenge, not substract from writing. Q.V.
