Hide and Seek
I manage to hold onto you long
enough to remain in the present
---with the who, where, why and I
argue and torture you once you've
been caught I want it back, give it back to me
no, look elsewhere
I can't only you possess it
and when you escape my grip I look
for you on the walls, in the sky,
beneath the books, behnd the girl;
wherever you may be hiding.
Yet you are right here with me,
inside of me, a part of me!
damn you and your loopholes,
lies, mazes, and illusions---
you put me face-to-face with my demons
just to see me shake with anger
at them, you, and me
why do you insist upon keeping me here,
in the Now, when you know I will
drift and chase you back?
No matter where I was last, I come
back with enough interest to catch up
to where I should be.
As for you traitor, in contrary to Morrison's
words, I will not learn to forget.
