Hiding Place

When the world seemed cruel to me, When it seemed like I was spiraling into my doom, When my tears made it hard for me to see, When I didn’t feel safe, Even in my own room. The door greets me like the big bad wolf to little red riding hood. The peeled-off paint matched nothing like its beauty inside. The monsters from the outside world vanish like they should. The monsters from the past smile down at me, But the little girl inside had died. The room inside stretched for miles and miles and miles long. The room was long and narrow with slanted ceiling. It’d be pitch black once you closed the door. Inside the only thing you’d see were the eyes of the monsters. I’d crawl as far as I could to get away. Once I bumped up against the wall, I know I was long gone. It’d feel like I was stuck there for days. I was blinded by the darkness. A figure appeared in the distinct. My throat choked as I tried to speak. My hand clutched whenever I tried to cover my mouth. I began to feel very fragile and weak. As I collapsed on the icy floor, I ran away in my dreams.
