high by the beach

Sometimes i like to get high on beaches at night time

I like to inhale the chemicals

And exhale my fears

I like the feeling of the sand

Cool and soft and silky

Like the sheets on the bed that valentine’s day

Sometimes i like to get high on beaches at night time

I like the feeling of the wind sprinting off the ocean

I like how cold and constant it is

And i like how it makes me more cold but less numb

I like the sound of the waves

Their water is infinite widened pupils

I cannot see the sharks but i know theyre there

I cannot see my emptiness but i know it is there

I cannot see myself without you but i know im here

I am without you

So sometimes

Sometimes i like to get high on beaches at night time.

Because it makes loving you hurt a little less.
