High Expectations

They have already formed their opinions

The straight A student

The over-achiever

The golden child.

He is afraid

He cannot continue to please them.

Undoubtably he brought this upon himself,

Every high mark, college letter, and award.

He wishes for a blank slate,

For their expectations are

Boulders on his back

So great he empathizes with Atlas,

The Titan who carried the Earth.

The pressure is beginning to suffocate him,

But he ignores it and pushes forward

As Always
