High School
High School.
Oh, how I dreamed about you when I was young!
Oh, how I couldn't wait to partake in all your fun!
I spent all my time in elementary wishing I were here,
And now that I am, elementary seems much more dear.
How I must swim these hallways, a salmon caught in the flow.
How I must live this life, four years of torment in a row.
Teachers, yes, some try, try to understand,
They try to give us hope and say, on them we can depend.
Others just don't care at all, another face with another grade.
Those teachers are the reason I cannot wait to graduate.
I have a single hope though, the light, how it nears!
I see the dawn is breaking, so hopeful I'm in tears!
College. What a lovely word. A place so far away.
A new place that's bright and fresh each and every day.
New challenges to present themselves, new people I can know!
Oh, now I dream of college and all the adventures that you hold.
One more year and I'll be out of this town, one more year, yes, just one more.
In 365 days, I too will spread my wings and soar.
College. Yes, college. My ray of sunshine in the night.
Oh, high school, little high school, how I long to leave you behind.
