High School

She fills you with fear,

she fills you with anxiety.

She drowns you in self-consciousness,

she drains your self confidence.

She feeds you lies.

She tells me my hair doesn't look good,

my smile isn't on right.

She says to stand up straighter,

I'm walking too fast,

or not fast enough.

She says to wear contacts, not glasses.

Don't wear those clothes,

everyone will laugh

Don't listen to that music.

Don't raise your hand in class.

She makes us put a mask on.

She makes us terrified to stand out.

She makes us scared to explore

away form our clique.

She is High School.

And she is a destroyer.
