On the Highway

Shame I could drive on it. He tried to bring me out on the highway, but I just couldn’t drive. He went too fast, and I wanted to go slow. He was going 65, and I wanted to go 45. I couldn’t go that fast. My foot just couldn’t press the gas. Being on the highway plenty of times before, he had more experience driving than I did. He told me things would be okay and that I should just stay driving. I came to a stopping point and pulled over. I thought the saying was my heart is like an open highway, but my heart was gone, and it was just my body.
