Up Hill Battle

Playing tennis on that first day

Made me feel like I was making my way.

Not only did I think you were cute,

But you seemed a bit on mute.

Your laugh, your smile, your face, your style

Made me feel like I was staying for awhile.

Our first date, our first kiss

Made me feel what I'd miss

I loved with everything I had,

Which made me nothing but glad.

Meeting your dogs, parents, and your sisters,

Made it clear that soon you'd meet my mister.

Knowing you were mine

Put me on cloud nine.

Not a day I regret

Ever since we met.

My family and you, your family and I

How do I even describe it? Oh...my.

The time we spent together

Made me feel like it would be forever.

But silly to think that, is it not?

I knew one day, this would all just rot.

Until that one day I enjoyed what I had

Because never were we making each other mad.

Then came the bickering, cries, and tears

Just exactly what I had feared.

When the day came, I was broken and depressed

Knowing I had nothing left of the best.

Hands down this was my favorite part of high school

But looking back now, people say I was just a fool.

Along this crazy journey, I lost all my friends

Everything was coming to an end.

Not your fault but mine

Because of one stupid time.

I thought we were the perfect fit

Because we never wanted to quit.

There are days and nights when I miss you

I wonder if you feel that too.

Now that we're done, I have to move on,

Because I know you're already long gone.

In my heart you will remain

Even my feelings will stay the same.

I know this is high school, next step, college,

That's where I'll gain all my knowledge.

Time for me to focus, it's senior year,

Graduations coming, its quite clear.

But what I want to do

I have no clue.

Until that time comes

I'll be playing with my thumbs.

High school is just a chapter of my book,

And now is the time I need to take a look.

When it comes time to the real world,

I can't feel all twirled.

Live your life in the moment

Another word for the present.

What the future holds for me,

I cannot see.

I don't want to feel stressed

So, I'm hoping for the best.

I'm doing what I want for me

Because now I feel free.

This is just a part of me; can I hear a part of you?

Maybe then I'll have a different view.
