Him

I was stuck I was in a cold, dark place The light given to everyone when they enter this world Had been smothered before I even began to speak I had been beaten down, touched, Hurt in unspeakable ways I was on the edge of seventeen Before my life had began, I was ready to end it I walked a thin line between life and death Death had become a comfort, a friend to me I had welcomed death Until I found something to live for Someone to live for I had been saved The light that had dimmed, was lit up by a fire Fire is often seen as destructive A cause of great pain and suffering But it is in fact much more than that Fire creates life, it helps the weary start anew An opportunity to rise from the ashes like a Phoenix My Fire is my Light He is my friend, my teacher, my Father As I was falling, He caught me He chased away my demons, And guided me from the darkness He picked me up and put me back together He helped me forgive the ones that broke me He brought me great joy and peace My days are full of warmth I feel light, the heaviness in my chest gone I want to be an advocate for those suffering an injustice To help others just as He helped me
