Him and the Vanishing

(Ring)

Born a syrup-hearted lad

He was a pure observer

Just as happy

Through clear sweet gloss

Like only other living thing

A soft fuzzed aura of a story

To be free

(Squash)

An abrasive mallet through

Our dark protruding sky

It is a circular flat mallet

Called a thief

A thief of no reason

Taking away needs from our lives

A build of obsolete

And freshly brewed energy

Collecting data as he is striped off

What he had

But as his flame of tragedy dies

The ashes sit in the core

(Crack)

The name called

The mallet….

It was he who changed

The air he breathes

All a protective sponge knows is

Him and the Vanishing

But as the sponge pandiculates

The ashes

Still politely sits in the core

Over a meadow a variety of gems

A blonde sun and wind

Rustling the leaves

He tries to sit

Breathe healthy air

There is no such thing

As the clear

(Clasp)

Arms so agile and sudden

The zenith of grief

Ashes and his data collide

Going out but inside

(Slip)

From his peak

A hologram concealing him

His wounds covered

But his joys unnoticed

Holograms of thin air

Some just call it

His reflection

But he knows it is there

Him and the Vanishing

(Gulp)

Layers consume him

Look at these garrulous layers

Seizes swords and shields and pointy spears

Through this he struggles until his numbness

Hiding at the bottom of the ocean

Or did it?

(Sink)

So sly his numbness grows

In his mellowed territory

So inevitable to him

This clueless boy

Like he treasured other souls

As he lay plastic

(Creak)

The last sound from him

Rust gathers on time

Forever in another land

He is gone

His physical form

Is his only staying legacy

Occasionally he will flee

From the sponge to greet you

Savor it: to fulfill his needs

Because again he will be found by

Data, sponge, and ashes

 (Bash)

You will fight the hologram

But how can you defeat

What you cannot see?

All he can do now is be wrapped up in himself.

(Clank)

Denial he claims

A bundled wad of glue

Telling him

He is not broken

A phobia of melting down

I say to you

So, love him

Captured or not

“Spend a weekend at Berne’s”

And drag him around

Till his reminder vanishes

Oh, I plead this favor from you

Do not shun him and his holograms

Your means are as effective as them

Sooth him down his minds

Dark but hopeful journey

I say in the voice of syrup-hearted lad

Him and the vanishing
