Hiraeth

Dear Oscar,

You were born on a Monday, on a sunny and windy day. It was 64 degrees that September evening. You came into this world vulnerable, scared, and unknowing of what life may bring. Now, 17 years later, on a chilly February evening you've come closest to that time of your life than you ever have been before. You're vulnerable to those you let take advantage of you. You're uncertain of how your future may turn out, and you are scared of disappointing those around you. Through the many hardships that have been placed upon your life I believe you are only deserving of one thing, which I have decided to provide for you myself. That is assurance. You are in charge of anything else you may believe you deserve.

Change is a bittersweet occurrence that has every right of possibility. This world gifts you all resources you need every awakening day. The only factor that remains missing to make change happen is your willingness. You know change is beautiful, yet your naiveness restricts you through your knowledge of having to lose the comfort you have already found wherever it is that you currently lay. You need to move on, make changes that will lead you closer to the dreams you have always desired. The only time there is for rest is once you reach success and the only time there is for serenity is once you reach happiness. You will never reach either of those by playing it safe. You have lived selflessly and insecurely. The end to that must come. You were always the kid who didn't love himself unless others did. Now it is time to indulge in the beauty that emerges from within you. Instead of living in fear of letting others down, live in the trepidation of letting yourself down. I cannot share with you the solution of finding a future that is reliably truthful simply because I, nor anyone, have no perfect knowledge of what may come, however, I can share with you this; uncertainty is the real beauty of life, the only guarantee we hold in this world is death. Instead of viewing the period of time you have from where you are now to then as a void, view it as opportunity.

The world is yours and destiny is in your playing field. Now it's time to take charge and let yourself live fully. Chase possibilities to their furthest extents and continue to break barriers. You are purposed for a change in the world, one that will prove greatness, but what needs to occur first is the change within your own essence. Chase something that will make them hear about you. Do something that will make them read about you. Show something that will make them want to be you. Be you. It may sound cliche however, never forget that every cliche has a kernel of truth.

Love,

You.

P.S.

They say you can never go far without coming back. I believe you will go far enough that it wouldn't become an option.
