His Heartbeat

I like to rest my head on his chest

and hear his heartbeat,

Because I like to feel that he is still there,

With me,

Alive.

Because after my soldier leaves,

the pounding in his chest might fade.

Or I might never get to here that sound again

So until then

I'll lay my head by his heart and

listen to it, remember it

so when hes not there I can still hear it

And feel calm again.
