His mistakes

Must I pay for his mistakes

is it my destiny to take his place

must I live in this segregated state

cause he boycotted your trust

and your love enslaved

why is my love not enough

to overthrow his Jim Crow in your heart

why has me trying to emancipate your love

caused this civil war to start

ripping our souls

which have been made one apart

I guess...

for this pain you feel there is no reparation

and from you

your identity has been taken

losing all love in self

how could you ever love me

my judgement was mistaken

your not an African queen

just a shell of what you should be
