Hispanic I am

Hispanic I am,

Judge you may,

However, I enjoy my Cuban music

As you parade through the streets with flames.

Hispanic I am,

I sing and dance all day

While you glorify what we have to say.

Hispanic I am,

I am prideful of my culture

While you hover over us like vultures.

Hispanic I am,

And I don’t care what you have to say

As long as I love myself, I will not be afraid.

Hispanic I am,

Years of history down the drain

While you sit at home with your newspapers

And watch us work in the rain.
