History in the Making

They admired,

he beamed from the stage as the stadium filled with applause.

They watched in astonishment,

She smiled proudly as she was crowned .

The boy leaned toward the girl,

the girl did the same.

They were filled with guilt.

“No more” they screamed.

The crowd applauded.

And applauded.

They knew they did no good but they reveled in the excitement.

A boy hid in the shadows,

a bleeding hand,

his lanky frame hid a frightened girl.

“Yes-” they chorused.

“-this is history in the making.”
