"History" or "Twistory"

As college students we sit in classrooms and through lectures,

But really we should be sending the history authors through lie detectors,

How do we know what we read or learn is true when one person stands behind it,

We show up eager to learn, pay attention, prepare, and for hours we sit.

History is perceived by the brain, but in the process the brain is being molded,

We go through the motions in the classroom not realizing the falsehood being unfolded,

The fire is being fed by one perception of "history" when really, it is all together wrong,

So we have our own professors not teaching but, tryiing to sell a song.

History really is not history, just a story being told in thousands of different ways,

So who is one person to define the past in their own words just because it pays,

The professors we look up to and respect, are not opening our eyes, 

They shut them to different aspects and possiblities with a wild disguise.

We have a right to explore our own perception and question this subject of "history",

Really the future does not depend on what happened before, it depends on the idea of mystery,

Our job as students is to uncover this unknown through our own eyes and find the story,

In fact as we sit through lectures and classes, we are being introduced to the "twistory".
