The Hoaxer

They see the smile

I feel the pain

They see a free girl

I wear the chains

They see a happy family

I cry like rain

when father beats me for the tiniest things.

They see the volleyball setter

Best in the league

They see the class president

who is really fatigued

They see the nicest girl

they’ve ever seen

when really she’s the most depressed human being.

She tries to be strong

She tries to fight

The evil thoughts that creep up on her during the night.

She misses her mother

Lost to disease

She’ll never see her again, that’s a guarantee.

She doesn’t wish for this

It’s not her cup of tea

This girl is hidden from view, this girl is me.
