Hold It Against Me

He said

I don't mind

Take your time

Either way

Today

Or tomorrow

You'll come running

I said

It's over

I said drunk on him

Hadn't been sober

In weeks

Months

Since him

He said

Keep running

From whatever demons

Are holding you away from me

I said

Wait and see

I can be

Exactly what you need

Just patch me up

When I bleed

Whatever is inside of me

Holding me away

Has a lot to do

And say

With how and who I am

So please

If you love me

Never hold it against me

And he said

I never have

I never will

And what I would give

To know your demons personally

He said

I took you

All of you

The day

I laid my eyes on you

The first day

The first time

I swore you'd be mine

And he was right

Here I lay

Here I am

Drowning in his shirt

I drown in his scent

Lose myself

Again and again

In who he is

This man

The only one who knows

He can

He understands

And cares

Even when he can't

He said

I love you

Even when I hate you

I said

I love you

Even when I hate myself

So please

Stay

Never take

What I do or say

To heart

It hurts

So I hurt back

I never mean it

If I could break it

I would

And for him

I will

So I tell him

Please

If you love me

Never ever

Hold it against me
