Holding on

Holding on

He had been holding on for dear life for the past 8 years.
We had been holding on to hope for the last 8 years.
The hope he would recover.
The hope everyone know would never come.
Because disease had been holding on to his life for the past 8 years.
We would be holding on to each other's hand, praying that he would pull through and a miracle  would come over him.
And now, we are holding on to memories. The memory that I hold on to is him whispering "hold on to what is precious to you, don't let anyone take it from you, grasp it with your life."
And now, he is holding on to God's hand as they walk down through the cities of gold
While I am here, holding on to what is precious to me.
